The second international meeting of the BSN project will be held at Shandong University, Weihai, China from 27 to 30 (arrival to departure) of September 2024. This meeting is about observations and research in the field of eclipsing binary systems. The first meeting was held in November 2023 in Paris, France. The purpose of holding these meetings is to review the latest research and methods in the field. Many eclipsing binary systems have been investigated so far, but many unanswered questions and uncertainties still remain. Eclipsing binary systems include a wide range of other branches of stellar astronomy, such as systems that have planets or systems that have pulsating companions. At the same time, more modern methods regarding the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning are increasing in research in this field. Another goal of all BSN project meetings is to use the potential of amateur observers to help professional research. Amateur observers can play an important role in collecting photometric data of suitable quality for research in this field.
The BSN project, Shandong University and Shandong Astronomical Society will host and hold this meeting. The language of this meeting is ‘English’. The organizers could provide grants for limited requests to attend in-person.
